The Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM) has revealed its prestigious Top 1000 Exporters List, and the cereals, pulses, and oilseeds sector has emerged as a significant force, with 84 out of 158 food companies hailing from this sector.
Ege’s Export Champions Shine Bright
Demonstrating remarkable growth, Ege's cereals, pulses, and oilseeds exporters have made their mark with four companies listed among the export champions. This sector alone has generated $12.4 billion in foreign exchange for Turkey in 2023, accounting for 47% of the country's total food exports.
Impressive Representation and Growth
The sector’s dominance is evident, with 84 companies securing their place on the TİM Top 1000 Exporters List, achieving a 53% representation among food firms. Over the past decade, the Ege Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Products Exporters' Association has seen its exports surge from $335 million to $1.065 billion, earning four of its members a spot on the list in 2023.
Noteworthy Performances
Abalıoğlu Yağ Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. ranked 200th overall, emerging as the 12th largest exporter in the cereals, pulses, and oilseeds sector. Yonca Gıda Sanayi İşletmeleri İç ve Dış Ticaret A.Ş., a regular on the list, advanced nine places to 163rd, while Ferrero Turkey Chocolate and Agricultural Products San. ve Dış Tic. A.Ş. made a significant leap of 445 places, reaching 368th.
Petfood Industry Representation
Highlighting the diverse success of the Ege region, Lider Petfood Yem Sanayi ve Ticaret A.Ş. entered the TİM Top 1000 Exporters List at 731st, showcasing the region’s emerging strength in pet food production.
Leadership and Ambition
Muhammet Öztürk, Chairman of the Ege Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds, and Products Exporters' Association, emphasized the sector's unparalleled leadership in Turkey’s food exports. He noted, “With 158 food companies in the TİM Top 1000, our sector's representation is undeniable. We aim to increase our exports to $14 billion in 2024 and have 100 companies in the top 1000 list, leveraging the strength of the Turkey Food Exporters brand. Our large stands at trade fairs and strategic initiatives like TURQUALITY and UR-GE Projects are vital in achieving our export goals.”
